Card Through Window

Card Through Window magic trick tutorial — performance preview

Category: Sleight of Hand · Difficulty: 5/5

A signed card vanishes from the deck and reappears on the *outside* of a closed window — David Blaine's signature street effect.

You'll Need This to Perform the Trick

Pro Card-to-Window Kit (sticky gel + duplicates) — An invisible removable adhesive gel pack and a Bicycle deck of duplicate cards — everything needed to perform the iconic window reveal.

Step-by-Step Performance Guide

  1. 1. Card Selection — Have a spectator select and sign a card from a borrowed deck. Place it back in the deck.
  2. 2. Vanish the Card — Spread through the deck. The signed card is gone. The spectators check the deck — nothing.
  3. 3. Point at the Window — Slowly turn around. Point at the closed window of a nearby restaurant. The signed card is stuck to the *outside* of the glass — facing in.

The Secret Behind the Trick

  1. 1. Setup Before Performance — Hours before, a duplicate card with a forged signature is stuck to the outside of the glass. The 'forged signature' is just a scribble — most spectators don't check the signature carefully.
  2. 2. Force the Selection — Force the matching card on the spectator. Their 'free choice' was actually the duplicate that's already on the window.
  3. 3. Steal the Signed Card — After they sign, steal the signed card via a top change or palm. The signed card disappears from the deck because you've already removed it.
  4. 4. Misdirect to the Window — Build the moment slowly. Build patter that the card 'felt heavy' or 'wanted to leave'. By the time you turn to the window, the audience is primed for impossibility.
